Dark Souls… Here it is..

Game: Dark Souls Developer: From Software  Platform/Release: Xbox360 and PS3/Oct2011, PC/Aug2012   I never really understood the significance that Dark Souls had on gaming until Dark Souls 2 was announced. It became apparent that there was a moderately large fan base clamoring for a second iteration of the game, and that those who were part of it were HARDCORE gamers. The idea of a “hardcore” gamer gives me douche chills, because while I am a completionist, and I love the games that are considered “hardcore,” I’m also a big fan of “casual” gaming. I like Call of Duty, and I am a huge fan of the recently released Titanfall. If you think that makes me a dick, then you are a hobbyist of a hobby…

Outlast… Here it is..

Hi there!

Game: Outlast  Developer: Red Barrels  Platform/Release: PC/Sept2013, PS4/Feb2014 Recently, I’d begun to worry that my new, responsible adult lifestyle had stolen my ability to take joy in something as arbitrary as gaming. I sat unaffected after playing games  such as Bioshock Infinite and Dishonored, which my friends all assured me were masterpieces and genuine contributions to the art form. The idea that my once cherished past time of being engrossed in the story, gameplay and environment of interactive digital media was weighing heavily on my mind. I was close to hanging up the gamepad and buying in to something more practical, like pilates. Well, I just finished my first play-through of Outlast, and pilates can go fuck itself. Let’s get this out of the way…
